SITUATION
Building on the strong KPIs from Hockeystick Matchmaking, we expanded the product with new features and a completely new set of internal tools for our advisory team.
After a large round of interviews with both startups and funders, all communication between parties was still happening over email, a real hassle that left plenty of room for mistakes and missed deadlines.
TASK
Replace email as the connective tissue between startups, funders, and our advisory team, without slowing down deals already in progress.
ACTION
We shipped three new features: a new homepage for startups with a deal status view, task management, and a full messaging app to replace email; a search interface for browsing funders by each user's own criteria, with AI-powered compatibility scoring; and the Advisor Deal Management app, an internal tool for the team to run deals, assign tasks, and message users.
With the new business model, funders became users too, so we designed their side of the system as well.
